People of faith were understandably dismayed this week by an adverse ruling of the British High Court, which put on hold an application by Owen and Eunice Johns to foster a child because the couple had indicated they would not be able to promote the homosexual lifestyle of a child in their care.
The couple had previously fostered 15 children.
The court found that, when there was a conflict between homosexual rights and freedom of conscience, “the equality provisions concerning sexual orientation should take precedence.”
The judges said their ruling did not amount to religious discrimination because the matter concerned “moral beliefs” and not “Christian beliefs.”
This is secularism gone mad. For many people of faith, moral principles and moral actions are directly shaped by the teachings of their sacred texts.
Will we see the same trend in Australia? Some fear the worst. It’s up to all of us to preserve the freedoms we possess, and resist all who seek to destroy those freedoms.
