Trump’s foolish Bible stunt


My friend Michael Jensen weighs in on the U.S. President’s latest ill-conceived publicity stunt:

As someone who proudly owns the name ‘Bible-believing’ Christian, I don’t think I’ve ever been more offended by a political leader than by President Trump’s waving around of the Bible as a stage prop in his pantomime of power. Well, not since Sarah Palin talked about waterboarding as a form of baptism, anyway.

­The Bible is not a book to be weaponised. It’s not a talisman or a lucky charm. It’s a book to be read and to be lived – or not at all.
